Where can i buy a converter plug to use in Saudi?

Converter plugs and adaptors are to be aquired in South Africa before leaving.

Where Can I Buy SIM Cards & Mobile Data?

  • STC, Mobily, Zain shops are available at airports and major malls and in some hotel lobbies.

  • Required documents: Passport & visa.
Where Can I Buy Groceries (Milk, Fruits, Snacks, etc.)?
  • Makkah: Large supermarkets like BinDawood, Panda, Tamimi Markets, Carrefour. Near the Haram – Small convenience stores (baqalas) sell essentials.
  • Madinah: Around the Prophet’s Mosque – Small shops sell basics. Al Qiblatain Road & King Faisal Road – Larger supermarkets (Tamimi, Danube, BinDawood).
Where can i find a pharmacy?

  • Makkah:

    • Near the Haram – Multiple 24-hour pharmacies (e.g., Nahdi, Al Dawaa).

  • Madinah:

    • Around the Prophet’s Mosque – Pharmacies like Al-Nahdi.
My hotel room key is not working.

Go down to the reception area to have it reactivated. NB- Do not keep your hotel key card next to your phone as it emits electromagnetic signals which can interfere with the reading of your card at your door.

When leaving Madina, do i dawn my ihraam at the Miqaat?

Its best to dawn your ihraam at your hotel. Due to many hujaaj leaving it becomes conjested at the Miqaat and extremely difficult to find an area to do so.
Is it allowed to use a wheelchair or cart during Hajj?

Yes, elderly or disabled pilgrims may use wheelchairs or carts. They can still fulfill the requirements of Hajj, especially for Tawaf and Sa’i, with assistance.
Do most shops accept card payments in Makkah and Madinah.

Yes most shops will accept cards. Some taxis will but its hit and miss so best to carry some cash depending on what you plan to do.
Are there medical facilities available?

 Yes, there are hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies available in both cities to assist pilgrims in case of medical needs. SAHUC also provides medical services to our hujaaj.
Can I find bottled Zamzam water to take home?

Yes, Zamzam water is sold in bottles at various shops near the mosques and in shops throughout the cities. For your convenience you and purchase it at the airport when you leave.
Are there shops that sell Islamic books and prayer items?

Yes, numerous shops around the holy mosques sell Islamic books, prayer mats, beads, and other religious items.
